All services begin with an assessment period, which will be a time to explore appropriate services for you and your family. During our first session, we will review paperwork which will inform you of your rights and expectations for services. We will then begin the assessment period, duration of which will depend upon you and your family’s needs.
CHILD-PARENT PSYCHOTHERAPY
I am a rosterd Child-Parent Psychotherapist. Intended for children from birth through five years of age, this model of therapy greatly emphasizes and values your role as your child’s most important support. This may be an appropriate form of therapy when your child has experienced a scary and/or painful event, is presenting with difficult behaviors, their primary caregiver has changed, their are family members experiencing physical or mental health difficulties, and/or you would like support with parenting and improving the parent-child relationship.
CHILD-CENTERED PLAY THERAPY
Play is the most natural way for your young child to express their worries and struggles. Play therapy may help reduce concerning behavioral and emotional symptoms you are observing from your child. As the most important person in your child’s life, I will actively be collaborating with you so that we can best work towards meeting you and your child’s goals.
THERAPEUTIC SHADOWING
This service takes place in your child’s day care or school setting. For therapeutic shadowing services to be successful, I need to regularly meet with your child’s educational team. The purpose of shadowing services is to support your child in in the school setting with recognizing their emotional state, recognizing and responding to the emotional state of their peers, formulating and communicating their ideas, entering and sustaining play exchanges, accepting limits, following directions, and improving their social reputation. Therapeutic shadowing is not a teacher aide, Applied Behavioral Analysis shadow, or a DIR / Floor Time aide.
